Found this and I'm going to make it.
Put the following ingredients in a blender.
1clove of garlic
1 small onion cut up
1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper(or several small chili pods)
Add a little water and blend.
Strain through cheesecloth then dilute in 1 quart of water.
Add 1 teaspoon of liquid soap to help it stick to the plants.
This spray may be effective in repelling the bean leaf beetle,the cowpea curculio, the Colorado potato beetle,fleas beetles,Japanese beetle,leaf miners and the Mexican bean beetle.
Its worth a try!

The only trick to using this is that it can block the stoma on the plant leaves. The rule years ago was to apply, wait a while then rinse.
Mary once rinsed off do you think it is potent enough to still be effective?
Susan, please let us know how it works for you! Something is eating my melon/cuke leave...
Im waiting to hear what Mary thinks- My husband thinks its silly to put it on and wash it off...he said we have to find something else...
